Jackson State was picked to finish 2nd in the East Division of the SWAC at the conference's media event yesterday.

The Tigers placed two players on the first team all-swac defense: DL Tedderick Terrell and CB Qua Cox who was named the Preseason SWAC Defensive Player of the year.

Five Tigers landed on the 2nd team; three on offense and two on defense. Running backs Tommy Gooden and Rakeem Sims were both selected along with O-lineman Jordan Arthur. On defense, linebacker Todd Wilcher and DB Cam Loeffler were tabbed.

Alabama State was picked to repeat in the East. Arkansas-Pine Bluff was picked picked to repeat in the West Division. UAPB's Golden Lions placed nine players on the first team. They were predicted to repeat as league champions.

JSU returns 15 starters from a team that went 7-4 last season, 7-2 in the SWAC.

Mississippi Valley State was picked 4th in the East, Alcorn State 5th.

For the first time the SWAC Championship game will move from Birmingham this year. The game will now be played in Houston, TX at Reliant Stadium, home of the NFL's Houston Texans.
