Austin On Edge After Another Explosion Injures Two

A fourth bombing in the month of March has the people of Austin, Texas living on edge. The latest bombing left two cyclists with non-life threatening injuries after they tripped a wire which triggered the explosion. The blast happened in a suburban neighborhood around 8:30 pm local time on Sunday night.

The two men suffered serious injuries in the blast but were reported to be in good condition at South Austin Medical Center.

Sunday night's bombing was different than the previous three attacks which involved bombs hidden inside packages. Those bombings left two people dead and two other people injured. Police believe the bombings are related and are concerned that the new type of bomb "is showing a different level of skill" from the suspect.

"If this explosion was the result of a bomb using trip wire technology, that is showing a different level of skill above that we were already concerned that this suspect or suspects may possess," Austin Police Chief Brian Manley told ABC's "Good Morning America" on Monday.

Manley pleaded with the bomber to turn himself asking the suspect to "reach out to us before anyone else is injured or killed."

He told residents to remain vigilant as the bombings have become more sophisticated.

“That changes things,” Manley added. “Our safety message to this point has been involving the handling of packages, and telling this community ‘Do not handle packages, do not pick up packages, do not disturb packages.’ We now need to have an extra level of vigilance and pay attention to any suspicious device, whether it be a package, a bag, a backpack, anything that looks out of place and please do not approach it.”

The Austin Police Department is offering a $115,000 reward for any information that helps police catch the suspect.
