Former College Student Accused Of Trying To Run Over Staff With His Car

Manooel Yerooshalmy, 33

A former student at Ner Israel Rabbinical College is facing attempted murder charges after allegedly trying to run over staff members with his car. Police received a call about an erratic driver trying to run over people near the Baltimore campus.

When officers arrived, they attempted to pull over the driver, identified as Manooel Yerooshalmy, 33, but he fled the scene. After a brief chase, Yerooshalmy pulled over but refused to exit his car.

The officers broke the driver's side window and pulled Yerooshalmy from the vehicle. An officer was injured during the arrest and was taken to a local hospital as a precaution.

None of the people Yerooshalmy tried to run over were injured. The first victim managed to take cover behind playground equipment, while the second victim was able to run inside of a building. The third victim attempted to block Yerooshalmy's car with a van but jumped out of the vehicle when Yerooshalmy started speeding towards him.

Authorities believe that Yerooshalmy may have been targeting at least one individual, but did not provide a motive for the attack.

Yerooshalmy is being held without bail and has been charged with three counts of attempted first-degree murder and three counts of attempted second-degree murder. His lawyer is seeking a court-ordered competency evaluation.
