Fast Food Manager Uses Unique Method To Help Gridlock At Vaccination Site

The manager of a South Carolina Chick-fil-A restaurant is receiving praise from the mayor for his unique assistance at a COVID-19 vaccination site. When a computer glitch at a Mount Pleasant vaccination site caused a significant gridlock, Mayor Will Haynie knew just the person to call: Jerry Walkowiak.

"I called [Walkowiak] on my way over and he actually got there before I did," said Haynie. "He was standing there. He was moving people along."

The famous chicken chain is known for its excellent drive-thru service and efficiency, so it's no surprise that Walkowiak was able to get things under control. As Fox 13 reports, he used the tried and true method in place at the fast-food chain to help direct drivers to the correct spot to receive their vaccine.

"[Chick-fil-A] manager Jerry Walkowiak donating his professional drive thru experience to help our vaccination program in Mt Pleasant today," Haynes said in a tweet along with a video showing the manager directing drivers where to go. "When you need help, call the pros."

What originally started as an hour wait was quickly reduced to just 15 minutes. Haynie valued Walkowiak's help so much that he plans to work with him and the chain at future vaccine distribution sites.

"All those issues got fixed as things progressed," said Haynie. "Thank you for your patience. A software glitch at the start caused a 1 hour delay. [Chick-fil-A] to the rescue!"
