Free Lasagnas Delivered To Coloradans In Need Thanks To 'Lasagna Love'

A nonprofit originally from Massachusetts is helping feed Coloradans impacted by COVID-19 by sending out free homemade meals.

Lasagna Love has sent thousands of Coloradan's free lasagna throughout the pandemic.

"We've fed over 17,000 families nationwide," the Regional Leader for Lasagna Love Jeff Haseltine told CBS4.

The nonprofit started as one person who wanted to make a meal for their neighbors during the pandemic. Soon, more volunteers were joining and it became a movement.

Almost a year into the pandemic, Lasagna Love is now operating in several states across the U.S.

"There are a lot of people in Colorado that are not doing as well as we are and are not as lucky as we are," said one volunteer Tenaya Newkirk. "It's a nice thing for us to be able to do."

Those who are in need of a hot meal put in a request at LasagnaLove.org. If there is a volunteer in their area a meal is scheduled and no further explanation for why the request was made is necessary, according to CBS4.

There are volunteers in almost every major city in Colorado.

"We stretch all the way from Pueblo to Fort Collins, all the way west on I-70 to Grand Junction," said Haseltine.

He told CBS4 he sees Lasagna Love lasting for years to help out people going through rough periods at any given time.

"I'm sure we will last well beyond the pandemic, there is always going to be a need out there."
