For months, Issaquena County was the safest place in Mississippi, in terms of coronavirus. It was the last county to report its first cases. The state's smallest county (population 1393) now has 27 cases, including five cases reported last week-- a 23 per cent increase-- giving it the 11th-highest coronavirus incidence rate which takes into account a county's population. Neighboring Sharkey County, Mississippi's second-smallest, is at the top of the incidence chart after a 43 per cent increase in cases-- 61 last week. Sharkey, with a population of 4805, has had a total of 204 cases.
