Even though the numbers were down substantially from 2019, alligator hunters this year had Mississippi's third-largest harvest since the statewide gator season began. They caught 845 gators-- 212 of which were more than ten feet long. The Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks says the biggest creature taken this year was 13 feet eight inches long. That was not a record. Last year, 922 gators were harvested. The most ever was in 2015 when hunters caught 982.
