Health Officer Says COVID Indicators Turning In An "Unwanted Direction"

With Mississippi seeing an increase of more than 800 coronavirus cases last week compared to the week before, State Health Officer Dr. Thomas Dobbs says he's concerned that we may be headed for a second wave of infections across the state. Dobbs says all indicators are starting to turn in an "unwanted direction". In addition to more new cases, the hospitalization rate for coronavirus patients has increased significantly. The Health Department is hoping to protect voters in high-risk categories when they go to the polls next month by providing free surgical masks and face shields at drive-through testing sites across Mississippi.
