Former NFL punter Pat McAfee confirmed that he will be taking a hiatus from his WWE commentary duties while contributing to ESPN's college football live roadshow College GameDay, with Monday's (August 19) episode of RAW serving as his final appearance "for a while."
āAlright, lastĀ Monday Night RawĀ Monday, for a bit... Iām very bummed out that tonight will be my last trip to to that wonderful WWE family for a while. Alright, letās have a day. Iām bummed out. Football seasonās starting, which is awesome. But the WWE family is where Iām supposed to be ā and I know that, and I hope they do, too. Cheers," McAfee said on his Instagram story.
McAfee confirmed his return to College GameDay amid speculation of a potential departure last month.
āIām back,ā McAfee said in the video showing a montage of clips from past GameDay appearances.
āLetās have the greatest year of college football in the history of college football,ā a message read toward the end of the video.
McAfee previously paused his role as WWE's color commentator during the college football season in 2023, which he resumed earlier this year after his obligations to GameDay concluded. The former punter initially joined WWE's commentary team in April 2021, having previously made sporadic in-ring and broadcasting appearances for the company in the past.
