Jason Smith and Mike Harmon react to recent comments from former Miami Hurricanes quarterback and current NFL draft prospect Cam Ward where he said he'll remember the teams that pass on him, and will make them pay for it the rest of his career. To Jason, the fact that Ward is a borderline lock to be a top-five pick means these comments are little unnecessary and over-the-top. Mike disagrees, pointing out the fact that great athletes like Michael Jordan have historically been known to manufacture artificial chips on their shoulder to help give them an edge. To him, that's what Ward is doing.
Jason Smith: "I get if you're falling through the draft, or you're projected to be taken somewhere in the middle or end of the first round, for you to say 'hey, if you pass on me, I'm gonna make it personal,' because a lot of teams will have passed on him... But he's saying he'll have a chip on his shoulder if one team passes on him? Two teams at the most?... If Tennessee passes on you, that's one team, and odds are you're only gonna play them once every four years!"
Mike Harmon: "Look, however you find your motivation, right? I can't fault him. Even if it isn't real, it's real to him, [and that's enough to fuel him]."
