Today on The Herd, Brady Quinn, LaVar Arrington and Jonas Knox believe the 4 Nations Face-Off far outperformed the NBA All-Star Game in intensity, taking advantage of the first weekend without football, delivering what sports fans really care about.
Brady Quinn: "If I'm going to take a piece of my life, if I'm going to go spend my hard earned money and go watch an NBA All Star game or a hockey game that's an exhibition, I want to see the intensity that you care AT LEAST as much as I do... That's the disconnect, is the NBA thinks because they're so great, they're so skilled, that people are going to want to watch. You're missing the point! You're missing the intensity of the game. That's what we love, man. We love the passion. We love the intensity!
LaVar Arrington: "[In the Pro Bowl,] I was hunting heads, especially if there was somebody on the other side of the ball that I didn't get a chance to see during the season. I certainly wanted to fit it in. I remember when Corey Dillon was in the Pro Bowl. I wanted to get him so bad."
Jonas Knox: "The first weekend without the NFL, and you're looking for something, and the NHL gives you the Four Nations Face-Off and the NBA rolls out that. It's just a bad look, man, and hockey benefited from it... You probably captured some interest from people who looked at it and said, maybe I'll give this a try because this is a different product than what I'm getting from the NBA. They can get all sensitive about it all they want. It's not like people are rooting for it to suck. They just want it to be a little better and that's where we are when it comes to the NBA."
